Research groups

  • The research group focuses on music-related learning processes, their structures, contexts, influencing factors, and related didactical aspects.

  • The research group Music Research North consists of researchers working within the field of ethnomusicology, music anthropology and cultural studies.

  • The research group Digital Arts Lab has defined Creative Innovation, in the intersection between the humanities, arts, design and crafts and ICT, digitalisation and AI, as its thematic focus. Our projects are often rooted in or linked to education and arts & culture dissemination. With regards to this, we are interested in the whole spectrum of learners, users, and audiences; older and young learners, new and established users, and fresh and experienced audience members.

  • Teacher educators' professional practice and practical knowledge (TEPPP) researches teachers' educators' professional practice and teacher educators as a professional group. The research focus is on conditions that constitute the teacher educators' practice landscape and the challenges teacher educators met in everyday practice as well as the various levels in which these challenges are met.

  • Fields of research in educational settings are multidisciplinary, with a common focus on extended classroom and varied instructional methods. Research within the research group focuses on teaching and learning in different environments outside the classroom and the use of different teaching approaches.
